Dazzle's Bio:

Dazzle is a 4 year old black and white border collie.  She was born on March 1st 2005 from a local litter of herding puppies out of Bug and Glen.  I went and saw Bug's litter for the first time when the pups were 4 weeks old.  I picked Dazzle that day and brought her home several weeks later.

Dazzle is primarily an agility dog.  Her first trial was a NADAC trial on Thanksgiving weekend of 2006.  She now competes at the Elite level and at the tender age of 2 she competed in the 2007 Championships in which she placed 3rd in Regular. We went back for the 2008 Championships and Dazzle won her division in both Regular and Versatility (combined scores from all events).   We recently started competing in USDAA and CPE as well, and hope to start in ASCA next year - although we probably won't be doing any AKC events because we want to support the working bred border collie*.

Daz and I did much of our agility training on our own in the beginning - making things up as we went along and working by trial and error.   In late 2007 began taking classes with both Sandra Katzen and Andrea Dexter and continue to take classes from those two wonderful instructors today.

Dazzle started competing in Canine Disc events in 2008.  Her first event to ever compete in was the NW Skyhoundz Regional where she placed first in Novice D&A.  We had only ever worked with a hard disc 2 days before the event! So, obviously, after that it was pretty much decided that we should continue playing this game and bought some more plastic to practice with.  Disc weekends often conflict with Agility weekends, but we continue disc work at parks on a regular basis.

Last summer Daz and I started working with ReelDogs - a small business dedicated to providing dogs for work in movies and advertisements.  Dazzle will be working on her first short film this spring.  If she takes to it well we hope to get her a role in a Feature Film sometime in 2009.  You can see Dazzle's ReelDogs Bio page here.

Apart from all that Dazzle also knows Rally, some Competition Obedience, and Freestyle/Freestyle Disc - so far we have competed in none of these sports but hope to start obedience in ASCA or UKC at some point and probably some Freestyle Disc next summer.  Her other main hobby is learning tricks; she now knows a couple hundred words and commands.  Some of her "crowd favourite" tricks include skateboarding, closing her crate door behind her, limping on command, doing handstands, and wrapping herself up in a blanket!
